Meet Piglet.
Piglet is an adorable dachshund-Chihuahua mix who was adopted from a crowded home (that contained over thirty pups) by Connecticut veterinarian, Melissa Shapiro

But adopting Piglet isn't without its challenges.
Piglet is blind and death so was sure to be diligence , so initially, Shapiro intended on fostering him temporarily.

But, she couldn't bring herself to part ways with the adorable pooch.
So after 2 months of fostering him, she officially adopted him – making it her seventh dog.
His special needs require tons more work than your average dog.

Speaking to People, Shapiro explained: “It was quite decision to form . he's tons of labor and he's sort of a full-time job, taking care of a touch disabled baby. But he’s so cute, and that we couldn’t give him away at that time .”

“Seeing a dog tends to make people smile and from that we might infer that just seeing a dog makes most people feel a bit happier.” -Stanley Coren This about sums up our day in NYC yesterday. From the moment I got out of my car with Piglet, we were stopped by people with big smiles on their faces asking lots of questions about Piglet. Some took pictures and everyone took a Piggy business card. They assured us that they would be following his Instagram and Facebook pages. I got a double dose of the tiny pink Smile Maker. When I look at Piglet I literally melt, and can’t help but smile. Adding to that happy feeling, meeting and watching others respond to getting a glimpse of Piglet in his stroller, when he’s strutting down the sidewalk, or when he’s being carried along all wrapped in his blankie, Piglet becomes a smile making force like no other! Thanks to @path88productions for the pic, and @oxdad for organizing the #wheelsonwallstreet fundraiser gathering for special needs dogs. @wagaware will be donating all profits from sales of their wagaware glow in the dark charms over the next two weeks to @loveyloaves special needs dog rescue. When she first welcomed him home, Piglet was extremely anxious.

“He was so anxious, he was screaming constantly. He would play, then attend sleep, but when he wasn’t doing either of these , he was screaming. I couldn’t leave the house the primary month I had the dog here,” she explained.

But, the small guy is now gaining more confidence.

He’ll now greet new people excitedly and much of friendly sniffs.

He’s come an extended way from his quivering beginnings…

Shapiro has documented Piglet's journey on Instagram.
He’s now become quite the web star, garnering quite 100k followers.

But, his owner wanted him to possess a much bigger meaning...

The pup’s story ended up finding its thanks to a classroom in Massachusetts, where the teacher used Piglet and his special needs as an example of why you “should never hand over ,” which “sometimes our life’s struggles can cause growth.”

“She called it Piglet Mindset, and that we corresponded throughout the year. At the top of the year, we surprised the youngsters . They thought we were getting to FaceTime, and that we walked in with Piggy in his stroller and three of my other dogs, and everybody was crying,” Shapiro explained.

Thus, the Piglet Mindset Outreach program was born.

Classrooms across the planet in Alabama, Connecticut, Japan, and Australia are all avid promoters of program, which aims to point out kids the way to combat problems and use what they need to the simplest of their ability.

Remarkably, the impact doesn’t end there, with over $30,000 raised through social media and merchandise in support of special needs dog rescues and other non-profit organizations.

“People are afraid to adopt these animals, they think that it’s getting to be an excessive amount of work. But people see Piglet’s page and that i get numerous notes from folks that due to him, they only adopted,” she continued.

“It’s rewarding to understand that folks are taking the lead and being inspired by Piggy. It makes tons of individuals really happy to understand him.”

What an adorable little guy.
