Help! 19-Year-Old Shelter Dog Still Loves To Play Fetch And Yearns For A Forever Home

You are only as old as you are feeling or act…right?

Dogs age at a way faster rate than we do, but many still have plenty of energy in their senior years. Senior pets are often gone by for younger pups, but people are missing out on amazing companions.

Ace, a 19-year-old Cattle Dog mix, is proving that age is simply variety . He would be 135-years old if he was a person's , consistent with a dog age calculator. However, this energetic senior likes to choose walks, play, and may still leap into the rear seat of a car for rides.

This adorable dog is at Sacremento SPCA trying to find a forever home. While his actions don't show his age, he seems like a senior dog and his eyesight is almost gone. He has enough left that he can still choose walks and play fetch at close range.

The friendly boy is being fostered and spoiled until someone steps up to adopt him. His foster mom told the Dodo, “He thinks he’s 2 years old, not 19!”

She recently took Ace to a pet store and let him detect a toy. Ace was super excited to travel for a ride and after sniffing and nudging a couple of toys, he found the right one – a red fox. Since he found what he was trying to find he thought it had been time to go to the car, so he beelined for the automated door – not realizing you had to pay first.

Ace gets along side other dogs and cats in his family and is leader of the gain walks. he's not letting variety slow him down. “There’s somebody for each dog,” said his foster mom. She says he has excellent house manners and knows the commands “sit” and “down”.
